Cabanas de Tavira

Cabanas de Tavira

The tepid waters and warm sands of the large beach are separated from the white houses and resorts of Cabanas de Tavira by the incomparable beauty of the Ria Formosa Channel, which can be easily crossed by boat to reach the beach.

The Ria Formosa Avenue is the promenade that runs along the Ria from the fishermen’s quay to the fortress of S. Joao da Barra, built between 1670 and 1675.

It is the tourist centre of the old fishing village with a vibrant life, restaurants with sea flavour and lively bar terraces with music.

At the exit to the main N125 road, the Renaissance portal, composed of five archivolts, is decorated with the Manueline art of the Portuguese discoveries of the 16th century on the beautiful Baroque façade of the Church of Our Lady of the Conception (Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceicao) of Taviras.

The gently sloping greens of the Benamor Golf Course are just across the N125 road.
